The details..

The Small Unit Night Fighter Handbook is a guide published by the Center for Army Lessons Learned (CALL) that offers strategies on how light infantry squads and platoons can effectively engage in nighttime combat operations. The manual includes battle drills that incorporate existing technology with current doctrine which helps overcome limiting factors experienced by soldiers and leaders during these engagements.

These drills form the basis of a unit training plan as well as provide guidance on what modifications should be made based on individual SOPs or METT-T analysis (mission, terrain, enemy troops available). Additionally it covers equipment capabilities such as Ground Commander's Pointer - Infrared; Phoenix Beacon; Squad & Platoon Night Vision Task Org; AN/PAQ-4 Zeroing Techniques etc.

Published under direction of Brigadier General Joe N. Frazar Il from TRADOC Combined Arms Center this handbook was authored by LTC Alexander D. Perwich II from 2nd Brigade 82nd Airborne Division Fort Bragg North Carolina 28307-5100 USA . Local reproduction of this handbook is authorized and encouraged.

Success in a night attack depends largely upon direction control & surprise making careful provision necessary for maintaining direction preserving control ensuring secrecy & taking into consideration enemy's night vision capabilities when using referenced equipments in these drills.
